Waiting on our Skype Session with Thor
We were given the chance to Skype with our Thor! Although it was 10am India time, it was 10:30pm Nashville time. We put the boys to bed at 7:30pm and woke them at 10:25 for the Skype session. E stayed mostly asleep, but G jumped to life as soon as he saw Thor on the computer screen! As for Thor, he waved, blew kisses and then grew disinterested in the computer screen. He quickly moved on to attack everything possible on the desk where the computer sat. We watched him play with blocks and color for about a half an hour. The caregivers shared the photo album we had sent to him and pointed back and forth from the book to the computer screen. It was so great yet so painful to not know how long it will be until he is home with us. We were so grateful to see that he appears to be so happy and so loved by the kind women at his orphanage.
Our family received wonderful news today! The judge in India has officially signed the court order for Thor to be our son! Although we received the verbal court approval in January, the written order had to be issued in order to move forward in getting that much-anticipated Thor hug. Earlier this week, the orphanage confirmed with us what name we would like to give our little one for the passport if they are permitted to designate more than the first name given to him. The agency said that we should expect to have a copy of the order next week, so we will know if we have been granted adoption or guardianship. Guardianship will mean a bit more paperwork at our end (no worries, I am a pro). Then, Thor's passport will be ordered by the orphanage, which could take as little as 10 days or an indefinite amount of time...
As soon as we receive word that his passport is ready, we will book flights as soon as possible to grab him up and bring him home! Was it a coincidence that today's sample at Trader Joe's was Indian cuisine? I think not! We celebrated getting to the next step by eating some new foods tonight! Was it a coincidence that today the Catholic church celebrates the feast of St. Joseph, the saint for which Uncle Joe is named? You may recall that it was Uncle Joe whose ministry was in India and passed away right before we were asked to consider a waiting child in India. Coincidence? I think not!
We are SO close to hugging this sweet babe!!!
